Call forwarding
Forward only missed calls (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile)
Dial the code for your carrier from your business phone, then use Test it in Setup › When Oscar answers. Most carriers forward after about 20 seconds, or 4 rings.
- Verizon: *71 then Oscar’s number
- AT&T: **61* then Oscar’s number, then #
- T-Mobile: **61* then Oscar’s number, then #
Turn call forwarding off
Verizon: dial *73. AT&T and T-Mobile: dial ##61#. Do this before you cancel, or your missed calls keep going to a number that no longer answers.
Texting and compliance
Why texting needs carrier registration
US carriers require every business that texts customers to register (it’s called A2P 10DLC). We file it for you. Until it’s approved, texts go out from a toll-free number so nothing is lost.
Call reasons and transfers
Set up warm transfers to your on-call tech
In Setup › Transfers & on-call, add each tech’s number in the order to ring. Keep ring times at 20–25 seconds so their voicemail doesn’t pick up first.
Getting started
What callers hear when Oscar answers
Oscar uses your greeting, says he’s your virtual receptionist if asked, and follows your safety rules before anything else. Try it yourself on the Test page.
Busy mode for storms and freezes
Turn on Busy mode at the top of any page. Oscar tells callers you’re busier than usual, puts emergencies first, and books routine work further out.
Booking and calendars
Stop Oscar booking over personal appointments
If the Schedule page shows Connect on Google Calendar, connect it and pick each person’s calendar. Busy times on those calendars block that person’s windows, and Oscar’s bookings land on a calendar of their own.
Without a Google connection, Oscar only knows the job windows on your Schedule page, so close or shrink a window when someone is away. The private calendar link adds Oscar’s bookings to Outlook, Apple or Google Calendar so you can see them, but it’s read-only: it can’t stop Oscar booking over events already in that calendar.
Billing and plans
What counts as a minute?
Only time Oscar spends talking to real callers. Calls under 15 seconds, spam, robocalls, practice calls and your own team’s calls are free and never count.
Change plan or cancel
Open Billing. Upgrades start straight away and you pay the difference; downgrades start at your next renewal. If you cancel, Oscar keeps answering until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
